Now Looking for Caregivers of Individuals with Cerebral Palsy and FASD to Participate!

Since the launch of the study, our team has received comments from families of individuals with disabilities other than autism that have been interested in the study, but that haven’t been able to participate because they didn’t fit our eligibility criteria. Our team agrees wholeheartedly that this research should be inclusive of other neurodevelopmental disorders and has been working on creating versions of the survey that appropriately capture the unique impacts and needs of other types of families.

We are very excited to announce that we are ready to launch two new surveys: one for caregivers of individuals with cerebral palsy (CP), and one for caregivers of individuals with fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD)! We are looking forward to hearing about how COVID-19 has impacted these families as well as how families of individuals with CP and FASD can be supported during the COVID-19 pandemic and in the future.

With the expansion of our study we are also pleased to expand our research team! We have brought together researchers from across Canada to help inform our research in these areas. Our team members come from a variety of backgrounds including psychology, physiotherapy, and social work and specialize in autism, CP, FASD, and other neurodevelopmental disabilities. Visit our Teams page for more information about us!

We have plans to further expand the study to create versions of the survey that can be completed by caregivers of individuals with intellectual disability, as well as versions that can be completed by neurodiverse adults about their own experiences during the pandemic. Look out for future updates from us as this project continues to grow!
